For Sarah Macleod, Organizational Development Manager at Community Living North Halton, the mission is clear: build a community where everyone belongs and is valued. The organization supports individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages, from preschoolers to seniors, ensuring they have the opportunities and resources to thrive.
“Our mission is a community where everybody belongs,” Sarah says. “It’s about recognizing the value of every person across every need and ability. There’s value in all of us.”
One example of this mission in action is the Lunch Box Café, a restaurant run by Community Living North Halton where individuals they support can gain valuable work experience. “The guys who work there love it,” Sarah says. “It’s always fun to see how excited they get about the food they’re serving and the regulars who come in. It’s a great social opportunity for them.”
As Community Living North Halton expanded, their existing systems couldn’t keep up. “We were using systems that weren’t able to expand with our growth,” Sarah recalls. “We were very paper-driven. I went from a payroll record being so big, and now I have two little files—and that’s it.”
Inclusion System’s simplicity won over even the most tech-wary staff. “Some of our management team weren’t very tech-savvy,” Sarah says. “But once they started using it, they were excited and embraced the whole thing.”
Inclusion System drastically cut down on the agency’s administrative time. Off-site managers can now approve things on the go from their laptops, phones, or tablets, making everything faster and more efficient.
“It’s helped everybody access information a lot quicker,” Sarah says.
Another tool that’s made a difference is ShiftShark. “Some of our managers were really excited about using it,” Sarah says. “They enjoy the app and how quickly they can get a response. Rather than having to make physical phone calls, they can send the information and get a response faster.”
According to Sarah, Inclusion System has helped her and her team become a better agency. “We can provide information to the employees who work here, make changes quicker, track things better for our employees, and use better systems to help us do our jobs better.”
