At Community Living Burlington, the mission is clear: to provide support and inclusion for individuals with developmental disabilities. This person-centered agency believes that everyone they support should have a say in the decisions that shape their lives.
“We believe in making sure that anybody we support is included in the community and completely in charge of the decisions they make in their lives,” says Allyssa Lippold, Day Services Manager at Community Living Burlington.
Community Living Burlington’s day program offers unique opportunities for individuals to learn new skills and express their creativity. One standout project involves creating recycled pallet signs, where participants take on different roles like sanding, painting, and coming up with designs.
The finished products are then sold, allowing the individuals to see the full cycle of their work. Another program focuses on teaching skills that can lead to other employment opportunities.
“We aren’t a state-of-the-art agency,” Allyssa admits. “But we have what we need, and we’re always striving to make things better and more practical.”
