For over 33 years, Valerie Budd-Pritchard has dedicated her career to helping people with intellectual disabilities. As the Executive Director of Citizens All Association, she leads an organization that has been supporting individuals and their families since 1973.
Originally started by parents seeking better opportunities for their adult children with intellectual disabilities, Citizens All continues to empower individuals to pursue their goals, no matter how big or small.
“We used to be cautious about encouraging things like getting a driver’s license,” Valerie explains, “but now we ask, ‘Why not? Let’s help them do as much as they can.’ If they succeed, great. If not, that’s okay too because we all learn from the experience.”
Valerie’s dedication to evolving the organization’s services and her passion for making a difference in people’s lives have shaped how Citizens All approaches challenges and opportunities. One such challenge was the need to upgrade their outdated technology to better serve their mission.
As part of their strategic plan, Citizens All identified that they were falling behind in technology. That’s when they heard about Inclusion System from another agency. They decided to try it—and that decision transformed their operations.
“We were blown away by how accommodating the team at Inclusion was,” Valerie recalls. “They let us pilot the system, and we trialled it for at least six months. They were extremely patient with us, helping us take baby steps to adopt the system fully.”
Inclusion System’s flexibility and support during the trial period made a huge impression on Valerie and her team. They were able to experience the system in real-time, which gave them confidence in their decision to move forward.
The impact of Inclusion System was immediate. Valerie remembers launching the system while she was on vacation, yet she could still check in from anywhere. “It was really cool that I could be on vacation and check in from wherever I was to see our payroll system and what was going on.”
One of the biggest benefits Citizens All experienced was peace of mind—something every Executive Director values.
“When you’re the Executive Director of an agency, there are things that keep you up at night,” says Valerie. “Payroll is not one of those things we worry about anymore. Inclusion has completely taken that worry away, so we can focus on the real work of the organization—supporting people the way they need to be supported.”
